Long weekends in 2026
When a holiday lands on Thursday, Friday or Monday, many offices treat the adjoining weekend as a stretch of days off. Confirm your own rest day with HR — the Employment Act only guarantees the gazetted holiday itself.

About this Singapore public holidays calendar
Every employee covered by the Employment Act is entitled to 11 paid public holidays a year. The Ministry of Manpower gazettes the dates each June for the following year. This page lists the 2026 calendar so you can plan leave, payroll, school holidays, and family travel without digging through a PDF.
The eleven gazetted names never change: New Year’s Day, two days of Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Good Friday, Labour Day, Hari Raya Haji, Vesak Day, National Day, Deepavali, and Christmas Day. The dates for the two Hari Raya holidays follow the Islamic calendar and were published as confirmed for 2026. When a gazetted holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is also a public holiday for employees whose rest day is Sunday. In 2026 that rule adds Monday 1 June (Vesak), Monday 10 August (National Day), and Monday 9 November (Deepavali).
Saturday holidays are different. Hari Raya Puasa falls on Saturday 21 March 2026. There is no automatic Monday off. Employees whose rest day is Saturday should check MOM’s public-holiday pay rules: they are generally entitled to a holiday on another day or an extra day’s salary, depending on whether they are required to work.

Key terms and concepts
Gazetted public holiday is one of the 11 days named in the Holidays Act and published by MOM. Employees covered by the Employment Act are entitled to a paid holiday on that date.
Monday in lieu applies when a gazetted holiday falls on Sunday. The following Monday is a public holiday if Sunday is your rest day. Shift workers whose rest day is not Sunday follow the rest-day substitution rules on MOM’s site instead of assuming Monday off.
Holiday pay is an extra day’s salary at the gross rate of pay, or a day off in lieu, when you are required to work on a public holiday.
Hari Raya dates follow moon sighting. MOM’s 2026 list treats 21 March and 27 May as the observed dates.
School vs public holidays are different calendars. Children may have weeks off in March, June, September, and November that are not public holidays for working parents.

Examples
Example 1 — Next holiday after 14 September 2026. Deepavali is Sunday 8 November, with Monday 9 November in lieu. Both dates appear in the table. The “next holiday” card picks 8 November because it is the next date on or after today.
Example 2 — Friday holidays. Good Friday (3 April), Labour Day (1 May), and Christmas Day (25 December) each create a Friday–Sunday stretch without using annual leave.
Example 3 — Thursday New Year. 1 January 2026 is a Thursday, so many people treat 1–4 January as four days off if they take Friday 2 January as leave.
Example 4 — Saturday Hari Raya Puasa. 21 March 2026 is a Saturday. There is no Monday 23 March public holiday. Employees whose rest day is Saturday should read MOM’s holiday-pay page rather than assuming a replacement Monday.
Important notes
Not a substitute for MOM. If the Government Gazette revises a Hari Raya date, follow the updated MOM page. This calculator copies the June 2025 gazette as verified on 14 September 2026.
Rest-day patterns differ. Monday in-lieu is the common case for Sunday rest days. Other rest days use substitution, not a blanket Monday off.
Contractors and gig workers may not be covered by the Employment Act holiday rules. Check your contract.
Company special holidays (for example, extra CNY eve leave) are not gazetted and are not listed here.
