What Silver Support is

Silver Support gives quarterly cash to Singapore Citizens aged 65 and above who had lower incomes during their working years and have little retirement support. You do not apply: eligibility is assessed automatically.

Who qualifies

  • Singapore Citizen aged 65 or above.
  • Total CPF contributions of $140,000 or less by age 55.
  • Household income of $2,300 or less per person per month.
  • Living in a 1-room to 5-room HDB flat.
  • Neither you nor your spouse owns a 5-room or larger HDB flat, private property or more than one property. You may live in a 5-room flat that you do not own.
  • Self-employed people and platform workers are also assessed on average yearly net trade income between ages 45 and 54, which must be $27,600 or less.

How much you get

Quarterly amounts depend on your flat type and your household income per person:

Flat Income per person $1,500 or less Above $1,500, up to $2,300
1- and 2-room $1,080 $540
3-room $860 $430
4-room $650 $325
5-room $430 $215

ComCare Long Term Assistance recipients receive $430 a quarter whatever the flat type.

Worked examples

Case Quarterly Yearly
3-room flat, 2 people, household income $2,600 ($1,300 each) $860 $3,440
Same flat, household income $4,000 ($2,000 each) $430 $1,720
1-room flat, income per person $2,000 $540 $2,160

Common mistakes

  • Using your own income instead of household income per person. The test divides the household's income by the number of people.
  • Thinking you must own your home. You only need to live in a 1- to 5-room HDB flat.
  • Owning a second property. Owning more than one property makes you ineligible.
  • Waiting for a form. There is nothing to apply for; CPF writes to you each December if you are eligible.
