About the BCRS Return Point Finder

Singapore’s Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) puts a refundable 10¢ deposit on regulated plastic and metal drinks so empty bottles and cans are returned instead of being thrown away. Consumers get the 10¢ back at a Return Right reverse vending machine (RVM) — also called a return point, 饮料瓶回收点 or 退瓶点.

This finder lists Return Right machines published on the official maps.gov.sg Return Right map. Enter a six-digit postal code (looked up through the public OneMap search) or share your location to see the nearest 10 machines by straight-line distance, with opening hours taken from the map notes, a Google Maps directions link, and a link to returnright.sg for live machine status.

Machines marked Upcoming are hidden by default because they are not yet in service. Turn on the toggle when you want to see planned sites. Town pages group machines by URA planning area so you can browse Tampines, Jurong West, Sengkang and other estates without a GPS fix.

The list is a snapshot of the public map, refreshed daily when the scheduler runs. It is not a live availability feed. Always confirm on returnright.sg before you travel, and follow the NEA consumer guide for what the machines will accept.

How to use it

  1. Enter a 6-digit postal code or tap Use my location.
  2. Read the nearest 10 results: name, postal code, hours, distance, and directions.
  3. Upcoming machines stay hidden unless you enable the toggle.
  4. Use the 10¢ calculator to see how much you should get back (containers × $0.10).
  5. Open a town page for a full list in that planning area.
  6. Check returnright.sg for live status before you go.

Key terms and dates

BCRS / Return Right. The national beverage container return scheme, operated by BCRS Ltd. under an NEA licence. Return Right is the consumer-facing name for the machines and refunds.

Deposit Mark. The on-pack mark that shows a 10¢ deposit was charged and the empty container can be returned. From 1 April 2026 marked packs started appearing; from 1 October 2026 every regulated beverage product supplied in Singapore must carry the mark.

RVM / return point. A reverse vending machine that scans the barcode, accepts empty uncrushed containers, and pays the 10¢ digitally.

SimplyGo EZ-Link and DBS PayLah! The only refund channels. Concession EZ-Link cards work with SimplyGo.

GST. The 10¢ deposit is not subject to GST.

Common use cases

  • Finding the closest working-looking RVM to your HDB block or office postal code.
  • Checking whether a supermarket or town centre machine is still listed as Upcoming.
  • Estimating the refund for a bag of bottles before you walk over.
  • Confirming that glass, cartons and bubble-tea cups are not part of the scheme.
  • Browsing every listed machine in a town such as Tampines or Woodlands.

Examples

Example 1 — postal 520247. OneMap resolves the code to Tampines. The finder ranks the ten nearest listed machines (Upcoming hidden) and shows hours from the map notes plus a directions link.

Example 2 — 40 containers. 40 × $0.10 = $4.00, paid to SimplyGo EZ-Link or PayLah! if every bottle has a Deposit Mark, is empty and uncrushed, and the barcode scans.

Example 3 — glass and cartons. A glass beer bottle and a juice carton are excluded even if they are empty. Recycle those in the blue bin instead.

Example 4 — town page. Opening the Tampines directory lists every snapshot machine in that planning area with ItemList markup for search engines and the same live-status caveat.

Important notes

Not live status. This page copies the public maps.gov.sg marker list. A machine can be full, offline or not yet open. Check returnright.sg before you go.

Upcoming. Filter values such as “rvm status: Upcoming” mean the site is planned or not yet in service. They are hidden by default.

Distance is as-the-crow-flies. Walking or bus time can be longer, especially with expressways in between.

Frequently asked questions

What is BCRS in Singapore?

The Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) is a 10¢ deposit on regulated plastic and metal beverage containers. You pay the deposit at the till and get it back at a Return Right reverse vending machine when you return an eligible empty container.

When did BCRS start, and when is the Deposit Mark mandatory?

BCRS started on 1 April 2026 with a six-month transition. From 1 October 2026 every regulated beverage product supplied in Singapore must carry the BCRS Deposit Mark.

Which containers can I return?

Plastic (PET, PP, HDPE and other plastics) or metal, 150 ml to 3 litres, with a BCRS Deposit Mark, a readable barcode, empty and uncrushed. Glass, cartons, pouches, freshly made drinks and unmarked packs are excluded.

How do I get the 10¢ refund?

Insert eligible containers into a Return Right RVM. Refunds are paid only via SimplyGo EZ-Link (including concession cards) or DBS PayLah! QR. There is no cash option.

How do I find the nearest Return Right machine?

Enter your 6-digit postal code or allow location access on this page. We rank the nearest 10 listed machines using straight-line distance. Confirm live status on returnright.sg.

Why are some machines hidden?

Machines tagged Upcoming on the official map are hidden by default because they are not yet in service. Use the Show Upcoming toggle to include them.

Is the 10¢ deposit subject to GST?

No. NEA states that the refundable 10¢ deposit is not subject to GST.

Can I return crushed bottles or glass?

No. Containers must be empty and uncrushed so the barcode can be scanned. Glass, cartons and pouches are outside the scheme.

Is this an official live map?

No. It is a snapshot of the public maps.gov.sg Return Right marker list plus NEA consumer rules. Locations may change; check returnright.sg for live status.

What does 饮料瓶回收点 / 退瓶点 / BCRS 押金 mean?

Those are common Chinese names for a beverage-container return point, a bottle-return point, and the BCRS 10¢ deposit. This English page is the same directory.
