Polytechnic ELR2B2 Aggregate Calculator Singapore

Add up your English, two relevant subjects and two best subjects, subtract the CCA bonus and check your ELR2B2 net aggregate against the polytechnic admission limit.

MOE uses a different net aggregate limit and a different rule for B2 from 2028.

Nursing has a higher limit.

Enter the grade of the subject you have chosen for each slot. Which subjects are relevant for each aggregate type is in the MOE list linked below. MOE list: subjects used for each aggregate type (PDF)

Your ELR2B2 result

Gross aggregate

CCA bonus points
1
Net aggregate
14
Net aggregate limit
26

Your net aggregate of 14 is within the limit of 26.

Slot Grade used Points
EL A2 2
R1 B3 3
R2 B4 4
B1 A2 2
B2 B4 4

Meeting the limit is not enough: you must also meet the course’s minimum entry requirements.

A lower net aggregate is better. The limit only decides whether you can apply; course cut-off scores change every year and depend on applicants and their choices.

The formula

The ELR2B2 net aggregate for a polytechnic diploma course is:

English Language (EL) + 2 Relevant subjects (R1, R2) + 2 Best subjects (B1, B2), minus CCA bonus points

A lower score is better. Each course uses one of four aggregate types, ELR2B2-A, B, C or D, which differ in the relevant subjects. Grades count as A1 = 1 up to F9 = 9.

The limits

Admission Net aggregate must not exceed Diploma in Nursing (ELR2B2-C)
O-Level students, 2027 JAE 26 28
From 2028 admission 22 24

You must also meet the minimum entry requirements of the course. The limit only decides whether you can apply: each course's own net aggregate range changes with applicants and their choices every year.

What changes for B2 from 2028

EL, R1, R2 and B1 still use the G3 grade. B2, the 2nd best-scoring subject, can be taken at G2 or G3 and uses a G2 equivalent grade:

G3 / O-Level grade G2 / N(A)-Level grade
A1 to B3 1
B4 to C6 2
D7 3
E8 4

G3 grade 9 and G2 grades 5 and 6 cannot be used. If two G3 subjects fill B1 and B2, the better grade goes to B1 and the other is mapped for B2. MOE's example: G3 Chinese A2 and G3 Physics B4 give A2 for B1 and G2 grade 2 for B2. If you took the same subject at both levels for B2, the better G2 equivalent grade is used.

CCA bonus points

For graduates of national secondary schools, an Excellent CCA grade (A1 or A2) gives 2 points and a Good grade (B3 to C6) gives 1 point. They are subtracted from the gross aggregate to give the net aggregate used for eligibility and posting. Private candidates and current or former students of a JC, MI or ITE keep the bonus if they have the grade.

What you cannot use

You cannot use the grades of both Higher Mother Tongue and Mother Tongue of the same language. For example, in ELR2B2-C, if Higher Chinese is B1, Chinese cannot be B2. The Merit and Pass grades of Mother Tongue 'B' Syllabus cannot be used either.

What this guide does not cover

The calculator adds the five grades you choose. It does not pick your relevant or best subjects: use MOE's subject list for the aggregate type of your course. It also does not cover a course's minimum entry requirements, ITE routes or the Polytechnic Foundation Programme.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong limit. O-Level students and 2028 admission have different limits.
  • Forgetting the B2 mapping. From 2028, B2 uses the G2 equivalent grade.
  • Using both Mother Tongue levels. Only one of Higher Mother Tongue and Mother Tongue of a language can count.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ELR2B2 net aggregate limit for polytechnics?

For the O-Level cohort applying through the 2027 JAE, the ELR2B2 net aggregate must not exceed 26, or 28 for the Diploma in Nursing (ELR2B2-C). From 2028 admission the limits are 22 and 24.

What does ELR2B2 stand for?

English Language, 2 Relevant subjects and 2 Best subjects. The net aggregate is the sum of those five grades minus CCA bonus points.

How many bonus points does CCA give?

An Excellent CCA grade (A1 or A2) gives 2 points and a Good grade (B3 to C6) gives 1 point. They are subtracted from the gross aggregate.

What changes for B2 from 2028?

The second best subject can be taken at G2 or G3 and is computed with a G2 equivalent grade. G3 grades A1 to B3 become 1, B4 to C6 become 2, D7 becomes 3 and E8 becomes 4. G3 grade 9 and G2 grades 5 and 6 cannot be used.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, so the grades you enter are not sent to a server by this tool.
